Health & Home

If you’re a sensitive soul too, you may find it hard to find products that work for your skin, home, and life.

As a darling canary myself, a chemically sensitive person, I know first hand which products can cause the most trouble.

So whether you’re sensitive too, or you just want to use products that are clean, pure, and good for the environment, here are some of my favorites.

Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castille Liquid Soap

I use this as a face wash, body wash, and even a shampoo mixed with baking soda and water. It can also be mixed with vinegar and water to create a spray cleaner, or even used as a laundry detergent. The options are endless. This stuff is truly amazing!

Mongo Kiss Lip Balm

This stuff is so smooth and wonderful. Clean and pure, and lasts forever!

Organic Unrefined Cold-Pressed Coconut Oil

Besides the occasional use in cooking, I use coconut oil for a facial moisturizer, lotion, and even as a conditioner for the ends of my hair. (Any brand is awesome, as long as it is organic and unrefined. I currently have a jar from Trader Joe’s.)

Nellie’s Laundry Soda

Perhaps one of the most challenging things to find is laundry detergent. This is the only one I’ve found that has worked for me so far — besides just plain baking soda!

Seventh Generation Liquid Dish Soap

This stuff is great for all things — I’ve even used it to hand wash clothing in a pinch. It can be diluted down to make a great hand soap, and can even be combined with equal parts water and apple cider vinegar to make a safe, non-toxic dog shampoo.
